A line of 3-3/4" action figures bearing the SGT. ROCK name was released in the 1980s by Remco. The figures had little resemblance to the World War II characters of the comic books. The Sgt. Rock figure was depicted in Vietnam-era fatigues and gear and had an M-16 rifle on the card back instead of a Thompson submachine gun which the figure came with.

Other figures were sold, these US troops also had Vietnam-era equipment and helmets/helmet covers or berets, and were collectively referred to as "Tough Action Soldiers."
The enemy soldiers, The Bad Guys were painted black.
Each figure came with either a plastic dog tag on which purchasers could ink their name and rank and had a serial number printed on the plastic tag, which also came with a silver colored string to suspend the tag around the neck, or came with iron on patches -Rangers, 2 different airborne, Sergeant First Class stripes and a ninja type, a design with sword over it.

Playsets included plastic machinegun and mortar bunkers. The quality of these toys was very low; soft plastic was used, and joints had limited movement, especially compared to the much superior G.I. Joe line of 3-3/4" action figures of the 80's to now.
Some Sgt. Rock accessories and vehicles would later be recolored and reused by Remco for their American Defense series, such as the attack helicoper, jeep and a modified version of the river raft.
Years later, Hasbro would produce comic-book accurate versions of Sgt. Rock and his Easy Company in 12" inch scale under their G.I.Joe brand.
